Representative Ron Reynolds has been a key figure in Texas politics since his inauguration as State Representative for House District 27 on January 10, 2011. As the first African American State Representative in Fort Bend County since Reconstruction, he's now in his seventh term. Reynolds has earned notable accolades including the “2021 87th Session Legislator of the Year” and was voted “Freshman Legislator of the Year” by his peers. His public service recognition includes awards from the Houston Minority Contractors Association and others.
Demonstrating political skill, Reynolds served as the House Minority Whip during the 83rd and 84th Legislative sessions. He's actively involved in community leadership through roles in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, 100 Black Men of America, and various caucus chair positions, including the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and Texas HBCU Caucus. His commitment to civil rights and community empowerment is reflected in his work with the NAACP and the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats.
In the Texas House, he's renowned for his expertise, especially as a ranking member on the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and Land & Resource Management. Reynolds' journey in public service also includes roles as an Associate Municipal Judge in Houston and leadership in the Houston Lawyers Association and Missouri City & Vicinity NAACP.
